CABINET'S DECISION.
PROBABLE INCREASE OF £1,000,000 A YEAR.
The final stages of the War Pensions Bill will come before Cabinet this afternoon, and the Bill will be brought before the House at an early date. The separation allowance for the wife of a soldier will probably be nearer 30s than £1 per week, and the rate for dependents will be increased. In regard to the pensions and allowances to be. granted, a conference of members of Parliament will be held to discuss the matter with a view to discovering the feeling of the House on the subject. It is understood that the increases will range from 20 to 25 per cent, on the existing scale, and that the increased cost for both Divisions will amount to* more than £1,000,000 a year.-
