"LA MASCOTTE."
The Wellington Amateur Operatic Society will, on Saturday evening, produce "La Mascotte," a comic opera which, though thirty years old, has still all. the freshness of youth." The older generation of theatre-goers will remember with pleasure the first appearance of this work, it« gaiety and lingering melodies. Such numbers as the "Glou Glou" duet, the "Mascotte" waltz (Ah, Blest His 'Lot"), "The Tap of the Drum," and "Love is Blind' are pleasant memories to '.all who have heard them. The cast on the present occasion will include Mr. A. W. Newton as Laurent XVII., Mr. Herbert Wood as Prince Frittilini. Mr. Len Barnes as Pippo, Miss Helen Gardner as the Bettina, Miss Isabel Wilford as the Princess Fiametta, and Mr. Alva Shaw as Rocco. The box plan will open to-morrow morning.
