SLIGHT RUSSIAN ADVANCE

ON THE NEW FRONT EAST OF RIGA

LONDON, 16th September. A Eussian official report states : "We twice attacked southward of Pauske, but were repulsed. The enemy in the region of Medug village ie strongly fortifying himself. We attacked in the region of the Pskoff road and occupied Kronberg. Further southward we advanced eight'hundred yards and occupied K Pelne, Kestzen, and Sissegal. We are advancing towards Lemberg (thirty miles east of Eiga). ' • We have repulsed the enemy westward of Ocna (.Rumanian front). - Our torpedo-boats bombarded the naval batteries on the Courland coast. Fires were observed. . . ... A Kussian report states : We captured an important position in the region of Pskoff high road, near Kronberg Farm, but were repulsed. On the Galician frontier, we captured a wood near Baerzisk, north-east of PLusiatyn. ,The enemy has withdrawn to a height on the_ Mychkoytze-Vasil-kovtze line. Our pilots dropped bombs, causing a conflagration at Horosemkov, between Husiatyn and Trembovla. RUSSIANS FORCED BACK IN ASIA MINOR LONDON, 15th September. . A Eussian official report states : The Turks in the Caucasus have forced os back beyond the line of the Shiva, Richtu, and Doubaresh Mountains, fifty jwrsts (about thirty-three miles) eastward of Rowanduz.- ;• -.
