CITIZENS'CHRISTMAS GIFT FUND
The citizens of Wellington for the pas: three years, with the assistance of thr sports bodies, co-operating with the Mayoress and Citizens' League, have boon able to provide each of oar boys from tho Wellington military area with '' a parcel, the approximate value of which j was ss. The parcels contain such ar-, 1 tides as' condensed milk,' sugar, meat ' extracts, .gocks, tobacco, cigarettes, etc., samples' of which • can be seen at ■ fh( Town Hall. Last year upwards of 20,000 parcels were made up and despatched, and a.like number ,18'required''this year. In order to lighten the work of the committee a suggestion was put forward that an earnest, endeavour should be made to obtain 100 donations of £10 as a, nucleus to the amount lequired,"* viz., £5000. Cheques may be sent to the Mayor Or Mayoress,'to Mr. C \V. Wilson (chaiTman of committee), Box 1517, caro of Sargood, Son, and Ewen, Ltd., oi to Mi. B-. W. Shallcrass, hOn. sec, N.Z. Sports Protection League, Box 695, Wellington. . The following donations have either been received or promised:—Wellington Bacing Club, £50; Wellington College, £10 10s; Messrs. C. nP. Skerrett, C. G. , Wilson, Chris. Smith, Capt. D. A. Ewen, I M. A. Carr, W. Duthie, W. A. Mow- ; bray, R. B. Grange, A. Law, J. J. M'Grath, and Campbell and Burke, £10 each.
