WELLINGTON TROTTING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club was; held in the Empire Hotel, Petone, on Saturday evening. There was a representative gathering, cjver which Lieutenant-Colonel A. M. Samuel, in the absence of the president (Mr. Riddiford), presided.. The report and balance-sheet (a. summary of which has been published in Tho Post) showed the finances of the club to be in a very satisfactory condition. There were 175 active members on the club's register. The report stated that the club was to be congratulated) on having secured the consent of the Hutt Park Committee to form a new training" track, which, when completed, would prove a boon to trainers, as the former-track , had been a continual source'of expense. The sincere thanks' of members were extended to Mr. John Sharpe, steward and' treasurer, for bringing the desired result to maturity. The excellent services rendered by the secretary (Mr. R. W. Short) and officials of the club were also acknowledged. Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel, in moving the, adoption of the report,.said it;gave him great pleasure, after an' absence of nearly two years, to find that the club was in such a flourishing condition., Mr. R. A. Armstrong.spoke in a similar manner*

The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following were elected stewards of the club for the ensuing season : — Messrs. R. A. Armstrong, J. D. Marks, W. H. Edwards, E. King, John Sharpe, H. Ryder, J. Elvines, Ja.mes Sharpe, J. E. August, 0. H. Upton, R. 11. Wilkie, R-. M'WhiTter, and LieutenantColonel Samuel.
