CUBA-STREET TRAMLINE TO BE DUPLICATED
Duplication of the tramway.'.track in Cuba-street,-from Manners-street to Vivi-an-street, as recommended ,by the Tramways General Manager, was the subject of a recommendation from the Tramways Committee to the City Council last night. V The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke)_ explained that thia work was necessary in view of difficulty- in keeping up communication with Wallace-street, owing to cars being hung up on the loop. A similar difficulty had been encountered on the Island Bay route, and an extension of the loop there had been authorised. That would be proceeded with immediately. Rails were available, a supply having been obtained from America.
The recommendation was adopted,
