SHORTAGE OF FISH
" During the whole of the time I have been/in Wellington," said a wellknown fish merchant this morning to a Post reporter, "I have never experienced such a scarcity of fish as there is at the present time. It is practically impossible to get fish of any description, and the only fish on the market is a small quantity of blue cod and flatfish from the Sounds. The cause of the famine is the bad weather, which has kept the local fishing fleet in port for a fortnight. . I know of at least one fish merchant in Wellington who~ was compelled to shut up shop on account of the shortage yesterday. Fish, even at Wholesale rates, is at an exorbitant price, and it is impossible to. get blue cod Tinder Is 3d. per 1b wholesale.'"
