During' the past month record use was made by the public of the : Central and", Newtown libraries. At the Central Library 10,436 books', were issued tq adults and 1136 to children, compared with 9146? and 821 during >August, • 1916r At New-; town the; issues to adults .and children totalled: 6963, as compkred, with 5692. last year. ' The aggregate issues wets therefore 1 18,535 this year compared with; 15,659 last year. . At the Central library the number, of', new subscribers and renewals was 395, subscriptions amounting to £46 13s 9d (£37 19s last year)i and at Newtown 203 subscribers, with subscriptions • amounting to £21 17s 6d (£l7 last year). Of tlie new or renewal subscriptions 99 were from children, 43 of whom joined the main library and 56 Newtown 1. The total amount in fees for the month was £68 11s 3d, compared with £55 18s 9d last year. ■ " .'■•
