The bravery of a ten-year-old Maori boy named William Royal, who jumped into the Auckland Harbour some time ago and rescued a boy named Howard Allan, seven years of age, when the latter fell off one of the wharves, has been suitably recognised (says the New Zealand Herald). The St. Heliers School Committee has presented the rescuer with a bank-book showing a credit of £8 10e, which was subscribed by residents of tho district and the Echool pupils in small amounts. The chairman of the committee and the headmaster have been appointed trustees of the account. Mrs. Allen also has rewarded Royal, and has presented to St. Heliers School an enlarged photograph of the rescuer and the rescued boy. Application is being made to the Royal Humane Society for recognition of the brave act.
