"THE MAGIC CARPET."

The coining production of the pantomimic play, ■ " The Magic Carpet," is creating a great deal of interest, and a very strong committee—Mrs. Ernest Hadfield (hon. secretary), Mrs. Guy Powles, Mrs. Lindo Levein, Mrs. W. Pearce, Mrs., (Dr.) Shand, and Mrs. Sinclair—is hard at work in the interests of the production. These ladies will also have charge of the selling of sweets and flowers on the second night, the Citizens' Service League performing the duties on the third night. The proceeds will be devot-ed to the Countess of Liverpool's Trench Comforts Fund.

On Tuesday evening last a church social was hold in the Inland' Bay Wnsley Church, in aid of the Choir, and Trust Funde. The chair was occupied by the Rev. J. Crowes. There was a fairly large attendance. A varied programme was submitted, including glees, anthems, duets, recitations, solos, musica.l, monologues, and trio. All the items reflected great credit on those taking part. Prom a musical point of view the social was a great success; and Mr. Billman, the leader, is to be congratulated on the items rendered by the choir. A most enjoyable evening was closed by the singing of the National Anthem.
