This morning the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) and the Executive of the Wellington Patriotic Society had an interview with the Minister of Internal Affairs, with the. object of arranging a scheme for the consolidation of efforts now being made by the various bodies concerned. A committee was set up, consisting of \ the Mayor and Messrs. T. M. Wilford, M.P., 3. G. W. Aitken, M.L.C., L. 0. • H. Tripp,,J. Macintosh, and J. Lewis, to work out a- scheme and report to the Minister! within ten days, in. order to prevent overlapping of effort. Gate takings at Newtown Zoo from Ist to 15th August amounted to £19 8s 3d, compared with £22 Is for the corresponding period p£ 1916.
