CONCERT AT GIRLS' COLLEGE

Last evening, past and present pupils of Wellington Girls' College combined to give a most successful concert in the College Hall. The chairman of the Board of Governors, the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, presided. Mr. Aifcken expressed his unqualified approval of the aims of the War Relief Fund, to augment -which the concert was held.

Under Miss Medley's conductorship the College Orchestra played two items, an enjoyable feature being, Miss Fullerton's rendering of Braga's "Serenata," with orchestral accompaniment. The Junior School, under the guidance of Miss Edith Howes, gave a charming exhibition of old English folk games, while the senior girls, pupils of Miss Bam6ay Smith, showed by their drill what an important part physical training occupies in the college curriculum. , One of the most successful items on the programme was the graceful interpretation of Mendelssohn's "Spring Song," by Misses Edna Wakelin, Beryl Ossipoff, and Daisy Donnelly; while the humorous element was well supplied in a clever farce by Misses Gow and Ctallichar. Other items were contributed by Mr. L. B. Smith, Miss Leitch, Mr. Day, Miss -E. Smith, and the College Glee Club, and recitations by Hazel Jefferey and Irene Deare. The sale of flowers, sweets, and programmes designed by tie drawing pupils, helped considerably to augment the proceeds.
