NATIONAL EFFICIENCY BOARD
It may be taken for granted that the resignation o£ the National Efficiency Board has been, or soon will be, accepted by the Government. The difference between the Government and the Board appears to have been one concerning; the reason for which the Board was set up and what it was required to do. The Board, it seems, has taken offence because its policy was not accpeted. The Government has taken the view that the Board was set np to give advice, as an accessory to Cabinet, but that beyond its advisory capacity, however valuable its efforts and deliberations, it had no standing, and that, in any case, it had no right to insist on its recommendations being given effect to.
