RETURNED SOLDIERS' PROTEST
The following letter has been forwarded by the general secretary of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association to the Minister for Defence : —
" Sir, —Newspaper opinion has recently suggested that the Government intends to introduce legislation reducing the lower age limit under the Conscription Act bo 19 years. I am instructed to convey to you, on behalf of the N.Z. Returned Soldiers' Association, an emphatic protest against this course, which my executive trusts has not been seriously contemplated.-—I am, etc., Douglas Seymour, general secretary."

CHRISTCHURCH, Thie Day.
The Christchnrch Presbytery resolved to enter an emphatic protest against the reduction of t he military service age. Mr. J. M'Combe, M.P., in an interview declared that 2000 men in some of the ballots have not answered to their names. The Government, he said, should take steps to secure them, which would postpone the calling up of the Second Division. /
