HUTT ROAD CONTROL

A Bill has beep prepared by the City Solicitor embodying the proposals of the Hutt Road Board for raising a special loan to enable a portion of the road to bo laid down in concrete. Provision is also mads for setting aside all annual license fees to be derived from mechanically propelled vehicles within the district served by the road —roughly the area from Wellington (and including the city and suburbs) to Paekakariki and Kaitoke. The full amount of the revenue thus obtained will bo devoted to the maintenance and control of the road. The Bill, as drafted, will be considered at a meeting of the Hutt Road Board to-mor-row, preparatory to its submission to Parliament. _It is hoped that the concrete construction of the thoroughfare will be undertaken at no distant date, 6O that tho expense of constant temporary surface, repairs and maintenance will be greatly reduced. .
