It is stated by the Auckland Star that legal proceedings have been instituted against the Mayor of Onehunga (Mr. J. J. Boyd) for an alleged breach of the council's standing orders. Mr. Boyd is the proprietor of the Onehunga Zoo, and on 21st May last, while presiding over a meeting of the Borough Council, he voted for the repeal of clauses 2, 3, and 4 of the borough bylaw No. 23, and known as the Zoo Bylaw. It is alleged that by this action Mr. Boyd committed a- breach of clause 76 of the standing orders, which reads as follows: "A member of the council shall not vote or take part in the 1 discussion of any matter before the council in which he lias, directly' or indirectly, by himself or his partner, any pecuniary interest otherwise than as member of an incorporated company, in which there are more than 20 members, and of which he is neither a director nor the general manager." Clause 77 fixes the penalty for a breach of the foregoing clause.' The case has been set down for hearing at Auckland on Thursday, 9th Align*!".
