ANGLICAN MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Thehon. "financial organiser of the Anglican Military Affairs Committee (Mr. R. W.,Simpson), reporting to:the Church Chronicle (Wellington), from Auckland, on 14th July, says :'■ —"The past month has been by far the best I have had, no less than £2755,10s 3d having been received; the total now being £6053 18s, including.£l34 8s lOd, handeo^ over to ths Diocesan Office in Napier from Rptorua, to be remitted to the; Military Affairs Committee. , The amounts contributed by each diocese that I have visited are as follows:—-Christ-church £1540 0s 4a,: Waiapu £1216 17s 6d,- Auckland £1085 0s Bd, Wellington £1227 11s 5d,. Nelson £586,0s 7d,! Dunedin £398 17s 6d.: .This is very satisfactory, as it shows that our people are at last; beginning to .realise their responsibilities, and there is little doubt that, the £10,000 asked.for will be obtainedj "as committees in most of the dioceses are now i taking up the matter in earnest." . Mr. Simpson also reports that he has received a letter from Chaplain Jacob, in which the latter says:—"l think much of our money will be wanted for France, where our chaplains rought to have more and better rooms and huts at their disposal. We are building Church Army huts at Walton and Oatlands, and I should like to i build one here also (Brockenhurst). .Codford also needs something more, and I think that Sling may also requii'e accommodation, all ; these latter in England."
