THE PARAMOUNT THEATRE.
The opening of the Paramount Theatrs; at the Courtenay-place .Tramway Junction, will take 1 place on. Saturday next, when the first of a series of. photo-plays from the Artcraft Studios is to.be screened. The picture is. entitled "Less Than the Dust," and features Mary Pickford in the leading part. It is said to be far the largest, production in which Mary. Pickford has appeared, and it lias been made under her guidance and influence in the perfection of every-detail. The scenes, laid in India and England, all are of great beauty, while it is said that several- have startling', effects, without stepping beyond the possibilities of the plot. Mary Pickford will be seen as a little orphan girl, who, deserted in India by her father, an English officer who has become a social derelict, is adopted by a sword-maker,, and reared as a native of the lower 'caste—less, than the dust. Finally she returns to her rightful sphere. The picture had a remarkably successful run when shown, at Auckland, and it should meet with similar success here. The Paramount Theatre is adapted for showing films to their best advantage. ' ■■-.-• ; • . ' , . i■t ' ■
