DOMINION BOY SCOUTS
(Notes by "Tracker.")
EASTBOURNE TROOP.
Eastbourne at last has a troop of Scouts, it is satisfactory to learn, and; under the direction v of the Rev. T. Gardener and Mr. E. W. Short, the three patrols are making satisfactory progress. Most of the boys have passed' their-tenderfoot test and are now busily engaged learning*, semaphore signalling. There are excellent opportunities for a Scout troop in this qistrict, and it is hoped the^ Eastbourne Scouts will meet with every success.
ST. PETER'S MISSION TROOP.
Another new troop is the one at St. Peter's Missionl, TaTanaki-street. It is understood that Mr. W. Phillips is the scoutmaster and "Tracker" looks forward to' learning'more of this troop in the near future. . ;..
NORTHLAND TROOP.
The annual parents' meeting of the Northland troop was held last week in Sfc._ Anne's Schoolroom, Mr. Daniel presiding. The scoutmaster reported on the work of the year, and the District Commander, who is also a member of the local committee, commented upon the progress made in the troop during the past fffw- months. The retiring committee, Messrs. Daniel, Burkett, Macdonald, Eton, Willson, Anderson, and Boyea was re-elected, and Capt. Maclndoe was.also elected. The business of the evening was preceded by a "pound night" for the boys, at which several Scouts sang. .
ST. THOMAS'S TROOP.
Last Sunday morning St. Thomas's Troop held a church parade at St. Thomas's Church. In spite of the wintry weather there were over 70 Boy Scouts on parade, also Scoutmasters Clark (St. Thomas's) and Godfrey (St.- Paul's), who were on leave from Trentham. During the church service, the troop flag -was blessed by the Rev. W. Fancourt, who afterwards;'preached an interesting sermon to the hoys. After the service Mr. Clark took the opportunity of thanking the scouts for Ithe present of a wristlet watch, which ■was given to him a few weeks ago. He then presented over 50 badges, , including 16 war service, 1 bronze kuri, and 2 all-round cords. The: Weka Patrol, under Patrol Leader E. Fisher, was then presented with the Patrol Cup, for the second term in succession. Mr. L. R. Preston then received his Assistant-Scoutmaster's commission. A. few weeks ago, a trio of Scouts from this troop gave a ambulance display, entitled "Throe's Company," which proved very interesting. This took place at St. Thomas's Sunday. .
