Congratulations were extended by the Education Board to-day to Sir. F. H. Bakewell upon his appointment as chief inspector of the Wellington District. The Chairman. (Hon. J. G. W. Aitken) said that previously the board had appointed its own inspectors, but on this occasion, when it did not do so, it had every reason to congratulate iteelf upon the appointment made. Mr. Bakewell had been a very active and conscientious inspector, a man on whose reports they could rely. Mr. Bakewell, in. reply, expressed the pleasure that he had in occupying this position in the service of the joint Wellington and Marlborough Board, especially since 35 years ago he was a servant of the .Murlborough Board.
