PATRIOTIC SOCIETY
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —It is noticed that the above society are contemplating appealing for more funds; Oliver Twist-like, they want more. Might I offer a suggestion to them that, before they ask for .more : They tell us (the Wellington public) what they have done with what has already been given to them ? I think we understood that all casli given was to lie for the helping of our wounded boys, and .if the Patriotic Society would kindly publish in the lotal press a full balance- 1 sheet, showing how the cash has been spent, It would create a little more interest. I noticed' in Saturday's Post an advertisement calling for a parade of the Patriotic Society's , Band for the purpose of presenting them with new silver instruments, and many bandsmen of the city, like myself, would like the Patriotic Society to say through the medium of The Post :—(1) Whether they have, directly or. indirectly, contributed towards the purchase of the instruments? (2) Whether the bandsmen have at any time, either directly or indirectly, received any remuneration for patriotic services rendered'in the cause of the oojects of the above society? (3) Why a public presentation was not made ? — I am etc., BANDSMAN No. l. :
