LODGE MEETING

A very- lengthy business sheet confronted the members of Pioneer Lodge, 1.0.G.T.. at this week's session held, at Rechabite Hall, Manners-street. The Acting-Chief Templar, Bro. Geo. Petherick, opened the lodge. Bro. Carmichael received the.congratulations of the Order on the occasion of his marriage. A committee was appointed to investigate in. connection with the resignation of an ■ officer, and report to the lodge. One new candidate was proposed, and initiated. Reports from members on visitations to the sick were received. The Finance Committee reported having audited the books, and found everything in perfect order. The Financial Secretary showed the income of the past quarter to ha.v« been £8 13s 6d, a very substantial increase. The Treasurer's report showed an increase of £3 12s 6d on the previous quarter's balance-sheet. The register shows an increase in aggregate and average attendance. The condition of the Order generally gives cause for satisfaction, and the earnest appeals at the Grand Ledge session for individual efforts seem to havo melt wjth a. very hearty response, as far thesPioneer Lodge is concerned, and the prospects of making substantial additions to its work and membership are very promising. It was-resolved, "That this meeting records its heartiest thanks ito the Evening Post' for its liberal insertions of reports of proceedings of our meetings during tie past quarter." Bro. Warren was elected Chief Templar, unopposed, for the ensuing quarter. The installation of the cabinet then took place. Bro. Petherick, P.C.T., in the absence of the Lodge Deputy was the Installing Officer, and had associated with him Bro. and Sister Price, Star of Wellington, as Installing Marshals. Capitation tax was 1 passed for payment on W members. Two appointments were made, namely, Bro. Bert Petherick as Assistant Secretary, and Sister Richards as Deputy Marshal. The Sentinal and Guard are to be installed at nest week's meeting. It -was decided to invite the members of the Star of Wellington and Hope of Petoue Juvenile Temples to the opening night of the Pioneer Juvenile Temple. The invitation of Star of Wellington, to meet Pioneer Lodge in debate was accepted, the subject "to be, "Prohibition versus 6 o'clock Closing." The meeting then closed. At next week's meeting there will be a question box and musical items.
