DIVERS AT WORK

CLEARING PROPELLER AND

EXAMINING PLATES.

Two divers were to-day busily engaged at work in connection with the mishap to the Mararoa, which is berthed at the Ferry Wharf. One of them, Mr. August Hans, was occupied in the cutting away of the wire hawser which fouled the propeller of the vessel. The operation is likely •to be a long and arduous one, as the cable is thick, and work with a 1 steel chisel and hammer underneath the water is very slow. The other diver.is examining the plates on the bottom of the vessels. A large crowd of people watched the submerging and emerging of the divers with great interest.
