Information was received by the Government Meteorologist- this afternoon that a slight shock of earthquake was recorded at Bealey at 12.7 p.m. The direction was from N.W. to S.E. '
In reference to what took' place at Thursday's meeting of the Hospital Board, when a letter received from the returned soldier was under consideration, in which he denies the allegation that he jumped the fence surrounding the Infectious Diseases Hospital, and invites the board to prosecute if it still' thinks he had done so, Mr. J. W. M'Ewan writes to say that the question was not put in the form reported, nor was the matter allowed to drop, but on the contrary it was referred to the Public Health Committee for a report.
The members of the Wellington Automobile Club who lent their cars for the use of the members of'the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers at the motor outing which took place yesterday at Waimii-o-Mata were Messrs. W. G. Foster, C. B. Buxton, W. Mantell, W. Brown, H. W. Laurenson, H. Evens, W. R. Morris, F. Townsend, C. H. Izard, W. P. Lodder, H. Lloyd, A. Dougall, and A. M. Taylor.
