Seven inebriates appeared before Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court this morning. A young woman, who was a first-offender, was convicted and discharged; and a prohibition order was issued against her. One first-offender was convicted and discharged, and two others had their.bail (10) estreated. For having used obeceno language wliild^ under arrest for drunkenness' last night Gustavo Neilson was fined 20s.
Vincejit Barron, for whom Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared, pleaded not'guilty to a charge of having assaulted Josenh P. Hanson and Howard A. Law in_Vivianstreet last night. The allegation was that defendant struck two youths without any provocation, and the/ defence waa an absolute .denial. His Worship considered that an, unprovoked assault had boon, committed. He convicted the defendant, and fined- him 20s, with the option of going to gaol for seven days.
