LUXURIES IN AUSTRALIA
GOVERNMENT TO CONSIDER PRO-
HIBITION.
(Eeceived February 24, 10 a.m.)
MELBOURNE, This Day.
Mr. Hughes informed a deputation from the Australian Protectionist Association that lie believed the time had arrived to restrict the importation of luxuries. He could not see the justification for the importation of £1,500,000 worth of silks in six months, also the importation of over £2,000,000 worth of motor cars and accessories during the last six months. The Government would consider immediately the prohibition of the importation of luxuries.
