"Plant Lover."—The black spots on asparagus and palms referred to are scale- insects. The plants should be sprayed, or preferably dipped, in a solution of Vistolene, X.L. All fluid, or McDougall's insecticide. Directions for use on packages. The pansies and violas being exhausted, cut the straggling tops off; keep the soil loose about the plants. If soil is dry, water well.
