STOCK MARKET
Messrs. Dalgety and Company report having held their fortnightly sale at the .Upper Hutt on Thursday, when they offered a heavy yarding of ■■ sheep and cattle to n, good attendance of local and outside buyers. Competition was spirited, and the whole yarding of sheep, with the exception of a couple of pens of f.m. ewes which were i eglected, was sold under the hammer. Cattle met with, a more ready sale than has been the case of late. They quote ::—Extra prime fat 'wethers, 42s 6d; fat wethers, 345; fat ewes, 30s; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 325; 2-tooth wethers, 265, 28s, 28s. Id, 28s 6d; 4-tooth to f.f.m. ewes, 30s'; 4 and 5-year ewes, 21s 6d; f.m. ewes, 20s; woolly lambs, 12s, 12s 9d, 13s, 15s, 16s, to 17s 6d; shorn lambs to 17s 2d; cull lambs, to lls 3d; Romney lambs, 2 to 4 guineas. Light-weight fat cows, £9 ss, £10, £10 10s to £11 15s; forward cows, to £7 10s; store cows to £5 15s; 2 and 2^-year steers, £11; ljrye'ar steers,''£B 7s; springing heifers to £11 12s 6d, bulls-£7 10s to £8 15s, 5-year gelding (saddle and harness) £24, child's pony 37s 6d.
A pig, offered on behalf of the Upper Hutt branch of the Women's National Reserve,. was bought and sold several times over, the fund profiting considerably thereby. .
