A GAMING CHARGE
In , the Magistrate's Court yesterday, William Ham was called upon to answer, a charge of having, loitered in Mercer-street on 3rd February last for the purpose of betting. ' Chief Detective Boddam conducted the prosecution, and the defendant, .who pleaded not guilty, was represented by Mr T: .Neave. The charge was laid under the Gaming Amendment Act, 1910. For the defence it was.argued that before a man could be held guilty of loitering for the purpose, of betting an actual transaction having taken place must be proved. The Magistrate-(Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M.) reserved his decision. . • ■
