VIEWS OF THE FEDERATION.
(BT TELRGRAPH.—I'KESS ASSOCIATION.)
-■AUCKLAND,'22nd February. At a meeting of the Catholic"Federa, tion in connection, with the convention the following resolutions were carried: "That in order to produce tile highest type of citizenship the ancient Catholic icleal of the combination of moral a.nd reliqlous training with secular instruction is' the best, and in view of this fact it is unreasonable 'hat conscientious object, ors of any religious body to a, purely secular system of education should be deprived of State assistance in the training of their, children while they ara
called upon to bear their share of taxation' and perform other full- duties as citizens; that this meeting therefore urges the Government to Sake such step's as will relieve one-seventh of our population from the double burden of building and equipping their own schools, and at the same time paying for schools they cannot in conscience ma-ke' use of; that tho meeting thanks the federation for what it already has done and pledges itself to support whatever steps the fod T oration may think advisable to take for the removal of Catholic grievances."
