HOLLWEG'S AMAZING STATEMENT
GERMAN EXPECTATIONS SURPASSED
.LONDON, 21st February. Speaking in the Reichstag, Herr yon Bethmann-Hollweg (the Imperial Chancellor) declared that the submarines had surpassed expectations. Germany had not lost a single submarine since the beginning of the unrestricted warfare. The submarine commanders reported that there, was no evidence of the- increased defensiveness of British shipping. ' He felt most confident that the'shipping of England and neutrals would be completely stopped.
