CITY ABATTOIR
Reporting to the City Council last evening, Mr. J. C. Mackley (manager of the abattoir) stated that during last month the number of. stock slaughtered at the abattoir showed a, decrease of 880, as compared with a similar period lost year. The only increase had been in bulls and pigs, the former showing an advance of 21 and the latter 7. Tho number condemned was as follows:—Cows, 12; bullocks, 14; Bull, 1; sheep, 12; and pig, 1. The total fees received were £437 19s 7d, this showing a decrease of.over £36 as compared with January of last, year. '■' The stock slaughtered was of prime quality, with the exception of 45 bull?, which were killed for boning purposes.
