HINEMOA RETURNS
The Hinemoa, which put back to Wellington yesterday owing to stress of weather, got -within .twenty-live- miles of Castlepoint when it was obvious owing to a hard east-north-«asterly wind anU heavy north-easterly sea that it would be impossible to ellect a landing at the Castlepoint lighthouse, so she put about and ran hack to Watarangi, Palliser Bay, where anchor was dropped at G a.m. yesterday. There was thick, dirty - weather and heavy rain off the East Coast. The Hinemoa. left Watarangi at midday, and came on to Wellington. A message from Castlepoint at's o'clock last evening reported that there was still a very heavy sea and hard north-easteriy HTJIA FROM GREYMOTJTH The powder schooner Hum. is to leave Greymouth to-night for Wellington with explosives, which will be discharged at Shelly Bay. . She will probably arrive here on Monday The Karu, which is to leave Wellington tonight for New Plymouth, will subsequently go to Greymouth The Defender left Hokitika last night for Wellington, and should arrive, here about Sunday next. She carries timber and general cargo for Wellington. The vessel is due to sail from Wellington on Tuesday for Pictou and Hokitika. \ ■ . BY.
