SIR J. FINDLAY ACCEPTS NOMINATION
REFORM LEAGUE STATEMENT.
(BY TEUEGRAPn.—PBESS ASSOCIATION.) HASTINGS, 21st February. Sir John Find lay has. telegraphed his acceptance of nomination for the Hawkes Bay seat.-.. 1- ' _ . • Mr. A. E. Jull has definitely withdrawn. •- : Mr. L. M. Campbell held a meeting last night, and announced that he was not opposing Sir John Findlay. The Hawkes Bay branch of the Reform league has handed the following statement to the press:—"An agreement was come to between the leaders of the Liberal and Reform Parties that during the term of the National Ministry any seat held by either of the respeative parties should go when vacant to that party without opposition from the other. The Hawkes Bay seat having become vacant through the death of the Hon. R. M'Nab, the Liberal Party have the right of nomination. Sir John Findlay having been nominated as the official Liberal candidate, the Reform League will in no way oppose his election, and in the circumstances urges all the supporters of the Reform Party to vote for him." Mr. H. I. Simson is still in the field, and it is reported here that Mr. H. Atmore, M.P.-for Nelson, intends standing in the Labour interests. Mr. A. L. D. Fraser, another prospective candidate, invites supporters to meet him on- Friday night.
