The death is announced of Mr. William Morton of Feilding one of the early settlers in the Kimbolton. district. He served more than one term on the Kiwitea County Council and ably supported the; Farmers' Union. Mrs. Morton and a. grown family survive.

In reporting the death of Captain J. A. Hayward, Deputy Harbourmaster and pilot, the Chairman of " the Harbour Board (Mr. C. E. Daniel!) remarked last night that deceased had been a very valuable officer, and the staff was poorer for his Joss. Mr. Daniell mentioned that, acting for the board, he had sent a telegram of condolence to the widow and family of deceased.

A Press Association telegram from Christchnrch announces the death of Mr. H. P. Murray-Aynsley, ex-member of the House of Representatives. The late Mr. Murray-Aynsley was born in Gloucestershire, England, in 1828, and came out to LyHelton thirty years later, and settled in Christchurch. After many years spent in sheepfarming, he joined .the New Zealand Shipping Company in 1873, and was a director of. the company for many years. In the days of the Provincial Government he was a member of the executive, and sat as member for Lyttelton in the Provincial :CounciJ. He represented Lyttelton in the General Assembly from 1876 to 1879.
