The Special Belgian Children's Christmas Fund, which was started in Wellington in December in response to anappeal from the Lord Mayor of London, realised £5031 18s Id, and this amount has'ibeen cabled Home by the Belgian Consul to the National Committee for relief in Belgium at London.
Trooper Walter James Blacklock, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Blacklock, of The Cape, died at the Oamaru Hospital on Saturday. Trooper Blacklock enlisted at Oamaru, and left with (he 9th Reinforcements. He saw service in France, where he received the wound to which he ultimately succumbed. A shell, which did not explode,, grazed Trouper Blacklock across the small o.f the back, and ho was invalided to New Zealand, being taken to the Oamaru Hospital as a cot case on his arrival about two months ago.
Cable advice has been received from Lieut. S. E. Lewis, of Marton, to the effect that he is well again and back on duty .it tho front nftev being four weeks in No, 7, Stationary Hospital, Boulogne.
