The harbour traffic statistics {or the port of Auckland for the month of January show a decrease of d 5 vessels in arrivals, as compared with the ■ corresponding month of 191f>—552 us against 597—but an increase of 7727 ktoss tonnage and 3554 net tons. In regard to outward traffic there is a decrease of vessels by 42 frna) «2a to 553, and a decrease of 22,891 i>i"sross tons, and 0330 in net tons. Two Koyal fluil stsamers, 11 large cargo steamers, and 8 intercolonial or Island steamers, entered and left the port in the course of the month
