PETONE BOYS' INSTITUTE
A case of some interest to Petone resi'f dents was ventilated in the local Court , before Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., to-day. .- Some years ago money was subscribed, by the public for the purchase of a sec-, tion for the erection of a Boys' Institute, and three trustees were appointed, one. of whom. Rev. A. Thomson, has since died. The institute fell on bad times and nothing has been done with the section. A suggestion was made some years ago to hand over the land to the local Technical School, and two trustees were; agreeable, but the third refused. The rates on the property being much over, due, the Borough Council in order to bring matters to a head proceeded to-day against the trustees, for whom-Mr. R; jMethes. appeared, and obtained judgment for the sum of £8 7s 7d, with 10s costs. Mr. R-. C. Kirk appeared for the Pet-one Borough. '-■
