NEW YORK, 31st January.

The Belgian steamer Samland, on arriving here, reported that she was halted by a German raider, bearing the name Moldavia, 400 miles from the west coast of Ireland, on . 4th. December. She was boarded by the Germans, and, after being searched, was allowed to proceed, as she was carrying relief and Christmas gifts from the United States to Belgium

The . Samland arrived -at Falmouth on 6th December. On the same day the British warnings ' that a German raider was at sea were first sent out

The raider is described,- as a vessel 400 feet or 500 feet long, with 45 feet beam. She was. low in the water, and her appearance does , not correspond with that of the P and O. steamer Moldavia, the Voltaire, or the Georgie. . The last-named is now two weeks overdue.
