FURTHER APPEALS
The Third Wellington Military Service Board continued its sittings after The Post went to press yesterday It comprises Messrs W. H. .S. Moorhouse (chairman). A Considine, and M. J Mack Captain Baldwin is the Military representative.
ONE MONTH'S LEAVE
Albert Smart, house-cleaner, Veronica street-, Vogeltown, employed by the Wellington Cleaning Company, appealed on the ground of undue hardship He stated 'that his earnings averaged ±13 per week. He was marxied 13 months ago, and was concerned about the support of his wife, who was just recovering from the loss of her child. His wife had no friends in New Zealand, and he wanted only a month's leave until she recovered her health. The application was granted. FINANCIAL ASSLSTANCE REQUIRED Percy Gerald Devine, skilled labourei, 21, Hutt-rqad, Petone, employed at the Railway Workshops, said he - bad a widowed mother, whom he supported, and a'brother, aged 12. Another brother was at the front After going into the financial positionCaptain Baldwin said it was clearly a case- where financial assistance was necessary ■ Appellant said he was quite prepared to go if his mother was left properly provided for. The appeal was adjourned in order to enable the board to communicate with the Minister as to financial assistance AN APPEAL WITHDRAWN The appeal of J. Martyn Hume, stated yesterday to have been dismissed owing to-the non-appearance of appellant, was subsequently reinstated and withdrawn at appellant's request. APPEALS DISMISSED. The appeals of . Mark Clement, gardener, White's Line, Lower. Hutt, and Peter Augustus Henley, razor-setter, Trentbam Camp, were dismissed, appellants failing to answer to their names.
