TRUST AND LOAN
COMPANY'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Wellington Trust, Loan, and Investment, Company was held at the Chamber of Commerce last night. Mr. J. A. Plimmer presided, in the absence of the chairman of directors, Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P. ■ ■ ■ In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet (already published), the ■ Chairman said that it was gratifying to see from the figures in the balance-sheet that the business of the company had increased in a satisfactory manner, especially in. regard to deposits, winch had, increased by about £16,000. That amount had been'invested in good security and advantageously. . It spoke well for the company and the confidence of the depositors when its deposits were at a record figure in its history. The increased taxation of the company's earnings since the war began amounted to £1700. . '■"■ .'." In secoßding the.motion, Mr. G. M. Kebbell suid he thonght.that, considering the extra taxation, the shareholders should be pleased at the fact that they were still getting 9 per cent, dividend. ■■ The report and balance-sheet were adopted.
Sir James Prendergast and Mr. J. A. Plimmcr were re-elected directors, and Messrs.. C. P. Powles and E. ,W. Hunt were re-elected auditors.
