DISCHARGED SOLDIERS
. The progress statement of the Discharged Soldiers' Information Department, up to 30th January, furnished by the Minister in Charge {lion. A. L. Herdman), shows that 5676 cases have been disposed of,-571 are under action, and 518 are not ready for action. It is satisfactory to note that 2402 men had work to return to or have re-enlisted ; 1329 men have been placed in employment ; 1264 said they did not want any assistance; 152 have left New Zealand ; and 529 have not responded to the help offered by the Department. There are six men in Wellington who are on the lookout for employment.
