VESSEL SUNK BY A MINE
LONDON, 31st January. Altogether 280 persons were drowned in the sinking of the Admiralty liner Laurentic.
The Admiralty states that the Laurentic was sunk by a mine, not a torpedo. There •were 400 on board. One hundred and twenty-one survivors, who include fifty wounded, landed on the north-west coast of Ireland. Seventy bodies were washed ashore on Saturday.
