RIFLE SHOOTING
OLD NAVALS' CLUB. The Old Navals' Rifle Club fired their second competition match on the Polhill Gully Range in .ideal .weather, on Saturday afternoon- for- trophies kindly presented by Col. J. Duncan, Major A. S. Biss, Col. C. Cooper, Hon. 0. J. Johnston, Capt. E. D. Bell, and A. Moore, also for the championship cup presented by Mr. C. Hoddei-. The conditions were seven shots a:nd sighter each at 500 and 600 yards. The best scores were as follow: — 500 600 yds yds Hp. Tl. Rflmn. F. E. Franklyn 33 32 sc —65 Rflmn. H. Hogan, 18-24-14—56; Rflmn. R. Pringlo, 24-30-sc—s4; Rflmn. A. Guise, 14-28-8—50; Rflmn. A. Gustofsen, 13-17-14—44; Rflmn. W. Harris 20-23----sc—43; Rflmn. Sneddon, 17-14-sc—3l; Rflmn. C. Burdett, 25. The club also fired three teams' matches for the'C. W. Martin challenge badges. The- holders' team was beaten by Pres. Rabe's team, with scores as follow:—Rabe 60, Whitehead 58, Butler 59, Pringle 54; total, 231. Standidge's team were the rnnnersup and lost the badges by tho narrow margin of 3 points.
