Sergt. Bird, who is to take charge of the Petone Police Station, vice Sergt. Forster, who goes to Timaru, arrived' in Wellington from the South to-day. The pea-rifle danger in relation to small boys was further exemplified yesterday. Two Boy Scouts named Kenneth Sharp, residing in Alma-lane, off Tory-street, .and William Stevens, who lives in Taranaki-street, were playing [ with a pea-rifle in' Jessie-street, when the weapon went off unexpectedly. Sharp, whose age is 12, received a shot in the thigh, while his companion, aged 10, was wounded in the knee. Both boys were removed to the Hospital, where they are progressing satisfactorily. The question of acquiring n site for a high school at Lower Hntt was referred by the Education Board to-day to the executive and Hutt Valley members for a. report.,
