H, Osmond to the National Reserve terminated on 30th ult.", and at a meeting of the executive of the Reserve tliis week the, committee in charge of the rifle matches .awarded the trophy to the Brooklyn unit, which won with a score of 629 points. The winners of the shield (Brooklyn) willliold the trophy till the end of December, when the .challenging teams will enter their scores before that .date—-the .competitions .being' held quarterly.

A match between teams representing Petone'and Hutt units of tlie National Reserve was fir t ed.at tile H.utt Drill Hall last Wednesday night, for the cup presented by Mr. T. M. WjHord, M.P. After a keeii contest the match was decided in favour of Petone by a riiargin of thirteen points. Following are the scores:^—Pelone : Collins.62, Wilkinson 50, Mudge 65, Morrison 60, Wakelin 48, Smith 67, Anderson 65, M'Ewen 64, Sharpe 65, Bond 69 ; total, 605. Hutt: Forsyth 69,'Olapbam 64, Prior 54, Fleet 66, Kershaw .65, M'Bain 60, M'Kay 62, Stratton 52, Knight 48, Clendon 62; total, 592.
