BRITISH SECRET SERVICE.
Dr. J. H. Jowett, says in. the British Weekly:—"English people are inclined to think that the Germans are far more alive and alert than we are, and that in their spy system they reveal great vigilance, while we are half asleep. I was ,told hy an American Ambassador of prominent standing that the British Secret Service system is the best in the world. There is no danger, I think, that Mr. Wilson might be tempted to assume prematurely the role of mediator. The only danger just now is the twist and colour which may be given to the European situation by tlie coming Presidential Election," added Dr. Jowett. "We English people should accept with a certain discount all that conies from America during tlie next few months. We should regard anything that displeases us as.bearing some relationship to the question of votes."
