CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR SOLDIERS
A meeting of the representatives of sports bodies will be held at No. 1 Committee Room, Town Hall, this evening at 8 o'clock. The object of the meeting is to form an organisation to assist the Mayoress in proivding Christmas gifts' for our soldiers. In the past two years the Associated Amateur Sports have inaugurated a movement throughout the Dominion, and on each occasion a considerable sum of money has been collected, and suitable gifts have been sent to the New Zealand soldiers at the fighting front and at Samoa. It is intended this year to provide some methods for raising funds., to assist the Mayoress in the excellent work, which she has in hand.
Sir William Hall-Jones left for the North by yesterday's^ espjess.
