The chances of salvage of that portion of tlie cargo above water on the Tongariro are good should the weather remain calm. The Koutunui is at present at tho scene of the wreck. The Te Aroha leaves for there to-night, taking winches and necessary equipment. Mr. D. C. Bates stated to-day that indications point to good weather at the scene of the disaster. He docs not anticipate any heavy seas there during the next two or three days. •■■ -•■.
