NO CHANGE ON THE SOMME.
LONDON, 16th August. Both Sir Douglas Haig's report and the French official communique state that the situation on the Somme is unchanged. LONDON, 16th August, Sir Douglas H.iig reports: With tho exception of minor infantry engagements in tho vicinity of Pozieres, where we are -consolidating our line; there is no change between the Ancre and the Somme (Received August 17, 9.30 a.m.) PARIS,. 16th August. A communique states : The night was calm on the greater part of the front. A German air craft bombed Belfort, bitfc there were no casualties. The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON, 16th August, 3 p.m. A French official report states: German patrols were dispersed in Champagne, at Thurne-Laharazee. In the Verdun region there is rather lively fighting in the vicinity of Vaux and Chapitre Wood.
